Track Vehicles

Monitor school vehicles in real-time with GPS tracking and alerts.

Time required: Real-time monitoring

Prerequisites

• Transport Manager or Admin role
• GPS devices installed in vehicles
• Tracking integration configured (Enterprise)

Access Tracking

Step 1: Navigate to Tracking

1. Go to OpenEduCat -> Transportation -> Vehicle Tracking
2. View tracking dashboard

Step 2: View Map

Real-time map displays:

• All active vehicles
• Current locations
• Route paths
• Stop locations

Vehicle Status

Status	Icon	Meaning
Moving	Green	Vehicle in motion
Stopped	Yellow	Vehicle stationary
Delayed	Orange	Behind schedule
Offline	Red	No GPS signal

Vehicle Information

Click on vehicle for details:

ETA	Estimated arrival

Live Tracking Features

Real-Time Location

• Update frequency: 10-30 seconds
• GPS accuracy: 3-5 meters
• Map zoom and pan
• Satellite/street view

Route Progress

View on map:

• Planned route line
• Actual path traveled
• Completed stops (green)
• Upcoming stops (blue)
• Current position (pulse)

Speed Monitoring

Alerts and Notifications

Configure Alerts

1. Go to Settings -> Tracking Alerts
2. Enable alert types:

Breakdown	Vehicle stopped	SMS/Email

2. Choose date range
3. View historical routes
4. See all stops and times

Create Geofence

1. Go to Geofences
2. Click Create
3. Draw zone on map
4. Configure alerts

Troubleshooting

Vehicle not showing

Check:

• GPS device is powered
• Device has signal
• Vehicle is active in system

Location inaccurate

Verify:

• GPS signal strength
• No signal interference
• Device firmware updated

Alerts not received

Confirm:

• Alert settings enabled
• Contact info correct
• SMS/Email gateway working
