Quiz Results and Analytics

View student performance, analyze quiz statistics, and generate reports for continuous improvement.

Time required: 5-15 minutes

Prerequisites

• Faculty or Quiz Manager role
• Quiz has been completed by students
• Quiz is in Active or Closed state

View Quiz Results

Step 1: Access Results

Option A - From Quiz:

1. Go to OpenEduCat → Quiz → Quizzes
2. Open the quiz
3. Click Results smart button

Option B - Direct Access:

1. Go to Quiz → Quiz Results
2. Filter by quiz name

Step 2: Review Result Summary

Quiz overview shows:

Metric	Description
Total Attempts	Number of submissions
Average Score	Mean score across attempts
Highest Score	Best performance
Lowest Score	Lowest performance
Pass Rate	Percentage who passed
Completion Rate	Started vs completed

Step 3: View Individual Results

Click on a student’s result to see:

Student	Student name
Attempt #	Which attempt
Start Time	When started
End Time	When submitted
Duration	Time taken
Score	Points earned
Percentage	Score as percentage
Status	Pass/Fail

Step 4: Review Answers

For each question:

• Student’s answer
• Correct answer
• Points earned
• Feedback (if configured)

Result States

Status	Description
In Progress	Student still taking quiz
Submitted	Completed, pending review
Graded	All scores calculated
Reviewed	Manually reviewed (essays)

Grading Essay Questions

For manual grading:

1. Go to Quiz Results
2. Filter by “Submitted” status
3. Open result with essay questions
4. For each essay:
   • Read student response
   • Assign score (0 to max marks)
   • Add feedback
5. Click Mark as Graded
6. Total score updates

Analytics Dashboard

Quiz Performance

View overall quiz metrics:

Metric	Insight
Score Distribution	Histogram of scores
Time Distribution	How long students took
Question Difficulty	Which questions were hardest
Discrimination Index	Question quality measure

Question Analysis

For each question:

Metric	Description
Correct Rate	% answering correctly
Average Points	Mean points earned
Skip Rate	% who didn’t answer
Time Spent	Average time on question

Identifying Problem Questions

Flag questions with:

• Very high correct rate (>95%) - too easy
• Very low correct rate (<20%) - too hard
• Negative discrimination - good students wrong, weak students right
• High skip rate - confusing or unclear

Exporting Results

Export to Excel

1. Go to Quiz Results
2. Select records or use “Select All”
3. Click Action → Export
4. Choose fields:
   • Student name
   • Score
   • Percentage
   • Individual question scores
5. Download Excel/CSV file

Generate PDF Report

1. Open quiz
2. Click Print → Results Report
3. Configure:
   • Include all students or selected
   • Include question details
   • Include analytics
4. Generate PDF

Grade Integration

Sync to Gradebook (Enterprise)

1. Open quiz
2. Click Sync to Gradebook
3. Configure:
   • Which attempt (best, latest, average)
   • Weightage in gradebook
4. Scores appear in gradebook

Automatic Sync

Enable in quiz settings:

1. Edit quiz
2. Check Auto-sync to Gradebook
3. Scores sync when graded

Student Portal View

Students can see their results via portal:

Control when students see details:

Retake Management

Allow Retakes

If additional attempts allowed:

1. Open student’s result
2. Click Allow Retake
3. Student can attempt again
4. Previous attempt archived

Reset Attempt

To completely reset:

1. Open result
2. Click Action → Delete
3. Confirm deletion
4. Student can start fresh

Reports

Batch Performance Report

Compare across students:

1. Go to Quiz → Reports → Batch Performance
2. Select quiz and batch
3. View:
   • Individual scores
   • Class average
   • Standard deviation
   • Grade distribution

Historical Comparison

Track quiz performance over time:

1. Go to Reports → Quiz Trends
2. Select multiple quiz instances
3. Compare:
   • Average scores
   • Pass rates
   • Difficulty trends

Troubleshooting

Results not appearing

Check that:

• Student completed and submitted
• Quiz is not in Draft state
• You have view permissions
• Filters aren’t hiding results

Score calculation wrong

Verify:

• Question marks set correctly
• Partial credit settings
• Negative marking configuration
• Manual grades entered (essays)

Cannot grade essay

Ensure:

• Result is in “Submitted” state
• Essay question exists
• You have grading permissions

Export missing data

Check:

• Correct fields selected for export
• Results exist for selection
• Export completed without errors
