Generate Results

Calculate and publish examination results for students. The result generation process aggregates marks, applies grading rules, and determines pass/fail status.

Time required: 10-15 minutes per session

Prerequisites

  • Exam Manager or Academic Admin role
  • All exams in session completed
  • Marks entered for all students
  • Grading scale configured

Overview

Result generation involves:

  1. Collecting marks from all exams
  2. Applying weightage and calculations
  3. Assigning grades based on scales
  4. Determining pass/fail status
  5. Computing class ranks

Steps

Step 1: Navigate to Result Processing

  1. Go to OpenEduCat > Exam > Result Processing
  2. Click Create for new result batch

Step 2: Select Exam Session

Step 3: Configure Calculation Method

Step 4: Set Pass Criteria

Step 5: Configure Grading

Select grading scale:

Step 6: Process Results

  1. Click Generate Results
  2. System calculates for each student:
    • Subject-wise grades
    • Total marks and percentage
    • Overall grade
    • Pass/fail status
  3. Progress bar shows status
  4. Results created in lines

Step 7: Review Results

  1. Go to Result Lines tab
  2. Verify calculations:
    • Subject marks correct
    • Grades assigned properly
    • Total computed accurately
  3. Flag any discrepancies

Step 8: Apply Grace Marks (Optional)

If institution policy allows:

  1. Click Apply Grace Marks
  2. Configure:
    • Maximum grace per subject
    • Total grace allowed
    • Auto or manual application
  3. System adjusts borderline cases

Step 9: Validate Results

  1. After review, click Validate
  2. Results become official
  3. Status changes to “Published”

Revaluation Process

For revaluation requests:

  1. Go to Exam > Revaluation Requests
  2. Open pending request
  3. Enter revised marks
  4. Click Recalculate Result
  5. New result replaces previous

Publishing Results

Portal Publication

  1. After validation, click Publish to Portal
  2. Configure visibility:
    • Immediate or scheduled
    • Full results or summary only
  3. Students can view online

SMS/Email Notification

  1. Select Notify Students
  2. Choose notification method
  3. System sends result summary

Result Board Display

  1. Click Generate PDF
  2. Upload to notice board
  3. Public display of results

Result Templates (Enterprise)

Create Custom Template

  1. Go to Exam > Configuration > Result Templates
  2. Click Create
  3. Configure:
    • Calculation formula
    • Weightage rules
    • Pass criteria
    • Grade mapping

Troubleshooting

”Missing marks for some exams”

Not all exams have results:

  1. Check which exams lack marks
  2. Enter pending marks
  3. Rerun generation

Grades not assigning correctly

Verify grading scale:

  1. Check percentage ranges
  2. No overlapping ranges
  3. All ranges covered

CGPA calculation incorrect

Check credit configuration:

  1. All subjects have credits
  2. Credits sum correctly
  3. Credit formula accurate

Rank not appearing

Requirements for ranking:

  1. More than one student
  2. All results processed
  3. Ranking enabled in config
