Manage Student Suspensions

Track and manage student suspensions resulting from disciplinary actions.

Time required: 5-10 minutes

Prerequisites

  • Discipline Manager role
  • Discipline record exists
  • Incident reviewed

Creating a Suspension

Via Take Action Wizard

  1. Open discipline record in “Awaiting Meeting” state
  2. Click Take Action button
  3. In the wizard:

  1. Click Submit

Suspension Record Created

The system automatically:

  1. Creates suspended.student record
  2. Links to discipline record
  3. Sends suspension email notification
  4. Updates discipline state

View Suspended Students

  1. Go to OpenEduCatDisciplineSuspended Students
  2. View active suspensions

Email Notification

Suspension email includes:

  • Student name
  • Suspension dates
  • Reason for suspension
  • Institution contact

Combined Actions

The Take Action wizard supports:

  • Fine only: Creates invoice
  • Suspend only: Creates suspension
  • Fine + Suspend: Creates both
  • No action: Marks as done

Reports

View Suspension History

  1. Go to DisciplineReports
  2. Select Student Wise report
  3. Filter by student and date range
  4. View all discipline records including suspensions

Troubleshooting

”To date must be after from date”

Suspension end date must be later than start date.

Suspension email not sent

Check:

  • Email template is configured
  • Student has email address
  • SMTP settings are correct

Cannot create suspension

Verify:

  • Discipline is in correct state
  • You have manager permissions
  • Required dates are filled
