Configure Event Types

Set up event categories and types for organizing academic, cultural, sports, and administrative events.

Time required: 10 minutes

Module: event, openeducat_activity

User role: System Administrator, Event Manager

Prerequisites

• System Administrator or Event Manager role
• Event module installed

Steps

Step 1: Navigate to Event Types

1. Go to Events -> Configuration -> Event Types
2. Or OpenEduCat -> Configuration -> Event Types
3. Click Create

Step 2: Enter Event Type Information

Step 3: Configure Registration Settings

Step 4: Set Default Template

Link default event template:

Step 5: Configure Ticket Options

For ticketed events:

Step 6: Define Notification Rules

Set automatic notifications:

Notification	Timing	Recipients
Registration Confirmed	Immediate	Registrant
Event Reminder	1 day before	All attendees
Event Follow-up	1 day after	All attendees

Step 7: Save Event Type

Click Save to create the event type.

Troubleshooting

Event type not appearing in dropdown

Verify event type is Active and properly saved.

Registration not working

Check registration settings are enabled for the event type.

Capacity not enforced

Ensure Seats Limited is enabled and maximum is set.
