Manage Student Achievements

Track and record student achievements including awards, medals, and recognitions across academic and extracurricular activities.

Time: 3–5 minutes per record Module: OpenEduCat Achievement Enterprise Permissions: Achievement User or Achievement Manager


Prerequisites

  • Student records exist in the system
  • Faculty records exist (for awarding achievements)
  • Achievement types configured
  • Access to OpenEduCat → Student Management → Achievements menu

Overview

The Achievement system enables institutions to:

  • Record individual student accomplishments
  • Link achievements to student progressions
  • Track achievement history over time
  • Display achievements on student profiles and portals

Steps

1. Access Achievement Records

  1. Navigate to OpenEduCat → Student Management → Achievements
  2. View the list of all achievement records

2. Create a New Achievement

  1. Click New to open the achievement form
  2. Complete the required fields:

StudentSelect the student who earned the achievement
FacultySelect the faculty member awarding/recording it
Achievement TypeChoose from configured types (e.g., Gold Medal, Merit Award)
Achievement DateSet the date earned (defaults to today)
DescriptionEnter details about the achievement
  1. The Progression No field auto-populates based on the student’s active progression
  2. Click Save

3. View Student Achievements

From Achievement List:

  • Filter by student, faculty, or achievement type
  • Use pivot/graph views for analysis

From Student Profile:

  1. Open a student record
  2. Navigate to the Achievement tab
  3. View all achievements in resume-style format

4. Add Achievements via Progression

  1. Open a student progression record
  2. Go to the Achievement tab
  3. Click Get Achievement to open the wizard
  4. Select achievements to add
  5. Click Add

Achievement Types

Configure achievement categories in School Configuration → Activity Configuration → Achievement Types:

Create a New Achievement Type

  1. Navigate to School Configuration → Achievement Types
  2. Click New
  3. Enter:
    • Name: Descriptive type name
    • Code: Short identifier (4 characters max)
  4. Click Save

Portal Visibility

Student Portal

Students can view their own achievements:

  • Achievement type and date
  • Description
  • Displayed in timeline format

Progression Portal

When viewing progression details:

  • Achievement tab shows all linked achievements
  • Sorted by achievement date

Reporting

Achievement Analysis

Navigate to Reports → Achievement Analysis to access:

  • Pivot table analysis by student and type
  • Bar graph visualization
  • Export capabilities

Best Practices

  1. Use consistent types: Define achievement types that match institutional categories
  2. Document thoroughly: Include specific details in the description field
  3. Record promptly: Enter achievements close to when they occur
  4. Link to progressions: Associate achievements with academic progressions for tracking
