Manage Student Achievements
Track and record student achievements including awards, medals, and recognitions across academic and extracurricular activities.
Time: 3–5 minutes per record Module: OpenEduCat Achievement Enterprise Permissions: Achievement User or Achievement Manager
Prerequisites
- Student records exist in the system
- Faculty records exist (for awarding achievements)
- Achievement types configured
- Access to OpenEduCat → Student Management → Achievements menu
Overview
The Achievement system enables institutions to:
- Record individual student accomplishments
- Link achievements to student progressions
- Track achievement history over time
- Display achievements on student profiles and portals
Steps
1. Access Achievement Records
- Navigate to OpenEduCat → Student Management → Achievements
- View the list of all achievement records
2. Create a New Achievement
- Click New to open the achievement form
- Complete the required fields:

| Student | Select the student who earned the achievement |
| Faculty | Select the faculty member awarding/recording it |
| Achievement Type | Choose from configured types (e.g., Gold Medal, Merit Award) |
| Achievement Date | Set the date earned (defaults to today) |
| Description | Enter details about the achievement |
- The Progression No field auto-populates based on the student’s active progression
- Click Save
3. View Student Achievements
From Achievement List:
- Filter by student, faculty, or achievement type
- Use pivot/graph views for analysis
From Student Profile:
- Open a student record
- Navigate to the Achievement tab
- View all achievements in resume-style format
4. Add Achievements via Progression
- Open a student progression record
- Go to the Achievement tab
- Click Get Achievement to open the wizard
- Select achievements to add
- Click Add
Achievement Types
Configure achievement categories in School Configuration → Activity Configuration → Achievement Types:

Create a New Achievement Type
- Navigate to School Configuration → Achievement Types
- Click New
- Enter:
- Name: Descriptive type name
- Code: Short identifier (4 characters max)
- Click Save

Portal Visibility
Student Portal
Students can view their own achievements:
- Achievement type and date
- Description
- Displayed in timeline format
Progression Portal
When viewing progression details:
- Achievement tab shows all linked achievements
- Sorted by achievement date
Reporting
Achievement Analysis
Navigate to Reports → Achievement Analysis to access:
- Pivot table analysis by student and type
- Bar graph visualization
- Export capabilities
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Progression not auto-populating | No active progression for student | Create student progression first |
| Cannot find achievement type | Type is archived | Unarchive in configuration |
| Achievement not showing on portal | Record not saved | Ensure record is saved |
| Cannot edit achievement | Insufficient permissions | Request Achievement Manager role |
Best Practices
- Use consistent types: Define achievement types that match institutional categories
- Document thoroughly: Include specific details in the description field
- Record promptly: Enter achievements close to when they occur
- Link to progressions: Associate achievements with academic progressions for tracking
Security Notes

Faculty members automatically receive Achievement User permissions.
